Holy Moly!! It's been a crazy two and a half weeks since school started!! Not only at school but in my personal life as well. I haven't even had a moment to write about the first two weeks. I will! I just don't know when.

I finished Unit 1 for the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Journeys for Kindergarten. I had to finish Lesson 4 and 5... and then I grouped them all into a combo pack!

Check them out at TPT!

You can find Lesson 4 here: @ TPT

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Journeys - Kindergarten - Lesson 2

I wish I could say I've been working hard on setting up my classroom and such since the last time I posted, or at least busy relaxing. But I've been busy doing other things! Family reunions, watching my nephews, yard work... and 7th year wedding anniversaries! ;) I guess that day was pretty nice and relaxing!

Anywho, I finished Lesson 2's supplemental materials! My stations are ahead of the game luckily! If I finish Lesson 3's, all of Septembers ELA centers will be completed! Well, besides the printing and laminating part of it all.

I added a few more fun items to this packet. I hope you enjoy!

Visit my TPT store to grab these! Or go directly there using this link.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Journeys - Kindergarten - Lesson 1

The first lesson supplemental materials of Journeys is completed!! Unlike the "Welcome To Kindergarten" section, this one has 6 different stations. The rhyming station can also be completed as a whole group activity, but it needs to be teacher run. Unless you have some VERY high flyers. Then challenge them with it!!

Enjoy!! You can get it here!

Ice Cream Scoop Sight Word Word Wall

I'm not a huge fan of typical word walls. I don't really know why, I just never was. Even with the word work station, I just don't feel they are useful enough for the students.

So. I came up with my own word wall. They are grouped together, not alphabetically, but by levels. Each student will start with an empty cone at the beginning of the school year. They will work on mastering the sight words under the white "vanilla" level. Once it's mastered, they get to add a scoop of vanilla to their cone and will then work on the pink "strawberry" level.

There are a total of 9 levels, and 108 sight words total. These sight words are considered level A, and good for Pre-K, Kindergarten or First.

I set the first 4 levels up in my room today! I printed the flash cards on colored card stock that matched the level color. I'm going to have to search for some brown card stock!

So all of this can be yours!! Just check out my TPT page!

And as the teachers in my school said, "Just another chevron thing to add to your room!"

Class Pet Weekend Journal - FREEBIE!!

In preparing for September, I finished our weekend journal activity!

I'm offering it up for FREE on TPT!

If any of you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed one similar with fun Scrappin' Doodle graphics. Well, I haven't bought the licence yet to sell it on TPT. I'm only allowing myself a certain amount of money per month to spend on school since I'm going to be buying either a laptop or iPad or other table of sorts soon. I would have bought it already, but darn Target $1 section got in my way!!

For this specific journal, you do need to purchase a book and stuffed animal. The book is "Scute's Ocean Adventure" and it is written by the employees at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. Scute’s Ocean Adventure tells the tale of a loggerhead sea turtle’s journey from the nest out to the open ocean. Scute interacts with an array of coastal and marine characters, until an unfortunate event lands him in the helpful hands of Dr. Norton. Dr. Norton, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center’s one and only veterinarian, helps Scute make a full recovery and returns him back to a life at sea.

While any sea turtle stuffed animal can be purchased, since I was ordering from the website anyways, I bought the Big Eye Plush Turtle from them as well. I'm thinking I should have bought 2, just in case.

I am going to have a colleague drop off the box to my room, after I open it the book will be on top. I'll read the book and then the letter from Scute himself! He asks our class to take care of a turtle that was hurt and needs our help. The students will take the turtle home on the weekends and record their adventures in the journal.

Since my class will be small, the students will be able to take the turtle home possibly 3-4 times during the year! I cannot wait to compare their creative writing skills.

Please leave feedback if you downloaded it or used it! Feedback will only make my downloads better!

Spelling Dictionary Booklet

Way back when, when I was a student teacher in a 4th grade classroom I was first introduced to the idea of a booklet of words to help them spell words correctly. My mind was blown. You mean this saves out on 20+ children asking you how to spell words? You mean this saves time correcting their spelling when it comes time to edit their papers?

My master teacher called her booklet "Spelling Dictionary" mainly because when students did ask how to spell a word, she would give them the first three letters of the word and tell them to look it up and put it in their dictionary. Yes, I understand this is technically not a dictionary, and yes it took longer. However, not only were the students spelling the word correctly, but they were learning to use the dictionary; which in my opinion is a lost cause today!

When I first started substitute teaching, during those planning periods where I had NOTHING to do, I started making up this booklet. I finished the booklet in no time flat, took it a Kinkos and made a couple copies for the future.

Fast forward 10 years later. Fast forward the technology and the plethora of fun fonts. I revamped my dictionary!

Purchase this book for only $2!!

My first ever booklet turned into a PDF to put on Teachers Pay Teachers. So feedback will be appreciated!
